Hello Fellow Autocrossers!

As many of us prepare for the upcoming National Championships in Topeka, the ER Board of Directors and Officers have been hard at work putting the final touches on our upcoming social events.

This year, instead of having a meeting and social fun time at SpeedZone, we will be eating, meeting and having fun at the Main Event in Grapevine on October 7. Then for our Christmas & Awards Party, we will once again visit the Elks Lodge in Grapevine on December 6.

Details on the fun times at the Main event are: Cost is $10 per person, in advance, RSVP and payment to Ginette VandenOever. ER will cover the balance and here is what you get:

Backyard Grill (Hamburgers, Hotdogs & Drinks) from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. During this time we will also have a very short board meeting which you may attend or not. Starting at 7:30 and lasting until 9pm, we will have free bowling on several lanes. Socks and shoes are included in the $10 cost. Then from 9 pm till midnight, each person will get a $10 game card to use on the other available games. If you don’t want to bowl, or you get done before 9pm you can start using you $10 game card right away. The Main Event also has Laser Tag, billiards and Glow Golf, but each person would have to pay for those activities separately.

With the location for next years National Championships still undecided, we have begun to look at having events at different locations next year. One possible location is the Ballpark in Arlington. Several ER Club members attended a recent Porsche event there and we all liked the lot. Initial indications are that cost would be comparable to the TMS bus lot. If anyone knows of any other possible event sites, please send us an email so we can follow up on that.

Later this year the ER board will be discussing alternate event sites and costs, so let us know how you feel about possibly having one to three events at the Ballpark or TMS or ??? Keep in mind that events at the Ballpark or TMS would probably incur additional entry fees of $5 or $10 each. Plans are to get input and decide on a schedule around October/November so we can set our entry fees for next year and figure out Pre-Pay amounts.

Another item that is coming up fast is ER Officer nominations/elections for 2009. ER Officers consist of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. We will be taking nominations at the October 7 board meeting or you may email us nominations any time before that. Elections will be held at the November 4 board meeting at Marshall’s BBQ in Carrollton. I believe that Ginette would like to step down as Treasurer, so that position could use some nominations. And just so you know, I do plan to run for President again in 2009.

In case you have been under your car making it faster or otherwise indisposed and have not heard the news: Todd Eaddy (Discount Tire located at 8700 Ohio Drive, Plano, TX 75024, 972 377-8242) has officially confirmed that Falken has joined Yokohama, Kumho and Hoosier in providing FREE tires for Equipe Rapide and Texas Region SCCA to give away this year!! WOW!!, that’s six full sets of tires and buy two, get two free for two other sets. THANKS TODD and Falken, Yokohama, Kumho and Hoosier!!!

As a quick reminder, all rules and procedures will remain the same except that we will try to stick to only giving out/collecting tire cards during tech hours and possibly immediately after the drivers meeting, until the 1st heat starts. Please help us in this regard by stopping what your are doing for a few minutes during tech hours and stop by the tech area to have your vehicle inspected and fill in a tire card.

We will have decals available if you need them and give you a card to fill out to put in the drawing box for your brand of tires. We may possibly even have some additional tire company info/catalogs/SWAG, etc.

All tire/decal inspections will be done in the tech lines or very near to them to minimize efforts for all involved. Once tech is closed the tire company info/catalogs/SWAG, etc. may move to another location, probably near the posting boards or by the tire company banners.
