1983 280ZX Turbo
1983 280ZX Turbo running in A Street Prepared. The car has been lowered with Eiback Prokit springs. I plan to change the sway bars bushings and tires. I also plan to add strut bars. I am interested in modifications that are allowed that might increase turbo boost. Don't have active e-mail address please send comments to Jonthan Volk, 8 Belmont Street, Milford CT. 06460

This is my budget race car. It has done very well with the following mods.

Early 240Z SU style carbs, Header, 2 1/2" exhaust system, de-polluted, AC removed.

Graphite impregnated poly bushings everywhere, ADDCO 1" sway bar in front, stock bar in rear. Intalled camber bushings, strut tower bars front and rear. Lowered several inches by cutting all springs (4 coils), upgraded struts. Using 205x60x14 tires on 7" rims. Relocated battery to rear of car.
1/8"toe out on the front, 42 lbs of air in the front, and 36 in the rear.

This car has plenty of power, and is very neutral handling but still needs some more negitive camber (3 degs.) on the front (camber plates). The rear has some trouble getting power to the ground out of turns. Limited slip would help. (Or maybe a lighter foot!).

The car competes in the Street Touring class.
My car is a 1992 Base Model 240sx, DOHC, No Hicas, Open differential.
Using 205/55R15 Dunlop sp8000s, Suspension Techniques swaybars, front camber bolts.
M10s in the top strut hole.
-2 front camber and -1.5 rear camber.
40F/38R PSI when AutoXing. Good balance, still small amount of understeer, but easy to provoke oversteer. Stock struts demand smooth input and don't help me in slalom at all. The car's steady state cornering is very impressive.
4pt Scroth belts, helped car control a lot, they were worth about 3secs!

Next, 15x7 light Al wheels, struts, springs, camber plates, K&N filter charger, Supertrapp
with a flange so I can use the stock muffler on the street. Some sneaky weight reduction
ideas... like removing the sound deadening from under the hood. Using the faster ratio Hicas
front steering rack, getting the viscous LSD.
