Byron Short driving a F125 Kart

Here you see Byron driving his latest set of wheels. Now his latest car/kart is quicker than his Porsche 944 he drove last year but it looks like he is having a blast. His new car/kart will go 0 to 60 faster than you can say "Autocross.com is great." One of Byrons' lesser known contributions is his turnover, (not roll over), of nationally competitive automobiles. At the 1996 SCCA Nationals there were a minimum of four automobiles competing, that were either owned or previously owned by Byron and his wife Yvonne.

Byron is one of the Continental Divide Regions most active SCCA participants. He has just ended a tour with the Solo Events Board and continues to be very active with the Solo Trials and Karting venues. Although both of these issues have their controversial sides Byron is always looking open minded at the topics. Byron sees the potential karts provide the Solo II world and has worked to continue their development.

At the local level Byron has always been willing to lend an extra hand. He played a key role in the development of the LOT 4, (AutoX Acres), site. AutoX Acres has become one of the premier autocross sites in the country. In the past Byron served as the publisher of "Racecomm", the regional newsletter for the Continental Divide Region. Byron has also contributed his time on the regional Board of Directors.

Now when he is not competing he is working with computers. Here is a description of his latest project which once again benefits the autocross competitor. His new program is called GEEZ! This Software helps autocrosser improve by providing detailed analysis of their driving. Geez! takes the data from a g.Analyst, and turns that data into a map of the path you drove. That map can be color coded to represent different criteria, such as green=gas or red=brake. You can color code the times that you're 90% or more of max. g's in one color and the times you are below 70% in another color. There's also a selection of gages which you can pop up and review at each point along the course. All the other stuff you'd expect is there, too, like the ability to review more runs on screen than you can imagine, or the ability to zoom in on a particular turn. The built in Race Diary makes it easy to track your progress and there's even a database of common autocross cars and all the popular autocross tires for you to use. Just call 1-800-775-9511 and leave Byron a mesage or e-mail him at bshort@AFSinc.com
