Featured Car/Driver of the Week
Last year at this time, Cathy Strathmann was flogging a ministocker around the track at southeast Virginia's Langley Speedway. There she met Terry Baker, who offered her the chance to break into Solo II, driving a bright red Porsche 968. After five years of successful driving in ministocks, she took him up on the offer. Just a few months after her first autocross, Cathy qualified 7th in the Club Challenge at the Nashville ProSolo2. One week later, she qualified 3rd at Petersburg. Less than a year after her first autocross in the Porsche, she qualified 9th in the Club Challenge at the Harrisburg ProSole2 and went on to win the Club Challenge. Never one to gloat over a win, Cathy takes all of her accomplishments in stride. Her friends and husband attribute her Harrisburg success to her regaining her confidence after some less-than-admirable finishes. She still feels she has a lot to learn in this sport, and takes every opportunity she can to get in the car, and to learn from others.
